Words

I'm a pretty wordy person, or at least i reckon so.I try to expand my vocabulary and utilize words that have a better meaning to what i am trying to say. So it bugs me when people make up words, its really funny to here some.

The other day i was sitting down with my mates at lunch and one girl goes " I really hate in clas how your not allowed to conversate with others because you have to do your work"...'Coversate' how'd she come up with that? and i mean good on her for not being boring and just saying talk but its not i word and so i told her (not to embarrass her or make myself sound really smart, just that next time she can get it right and someone whom she isn't friends with won't pick it up and make her even more embarrassed than i would.)and she said to me "No its definitely a word" and i said "no, Kat it isn't trust me.It's either you converse with someone or have a conversation with them. NOT conversate" and she would not believe me! and she still says it all the time and i makes me cringe :P.

But in saying that i would like to know some people can make up words and suddenly they are real words like 'ranga' which somehow made it into the Oxford Dictionary (and really ranga is just an abbreviation of orangutan)and other words that are said but never become an 'official' word?
suggestions?
